Technical Committee for Recovered paper utilization (RECO) General Information
This technical committee sees itself as an international platform for the exchange of views on the secondary raw material recovered paper from its collection through its processing up to the production of new paper products. It offers a forum going far beyond the recovered paper processing industry that considers both the further processing of papers containing recycled fibers (e.g. corrugated board), the supplying industry (chemicals and machinery manufacturers), the waste disposal industry and the relevant research institutes and universities as well as associations and interested groups.
This technical committee deals with all questions of collecting recovered paper, the yield of marketable types of recovered paper as well as technical-technological issues of recovered paper processing. Furthermore, the scope of activities of the technical committee comprises legal restraints and political developments with regard to the subject of recovered paper recycling and the utilization of processed recycled fibers in paper and board.
The technical committee has the following technical sub-committees:
Deinking process
Tacky contaminants: Recycling criteria of paper processing
Working groups:
unwanted constituents
terminology
The technical committee works in close cooperation with the technical committees for
paper making
mechanical pulping
paperboard technology
environmental issues (working group: waste and residual material processing)
as well as with:
INGEDE - International Research Association Deinking Technology,
Technischer Ausschuss der Vereinigung Pack- und Wellpappenpapiere (VPW – [Technical Panel of the Federation Packing and Corrugated Board Papers])
and INREKA (Interessengemeinschaft Recycling Karton [Association of Interests Recycling Cardboard]).
